In the 18th. Century - during the Corsicans war - pirate vessel Revengers bombarded Buzios shores, which underwent a series of invasions by the French, the English, the Portuguese, and the Dutch. Armaçao dos Búzios was also utilized as headquarters by pirates, a key trade point for Pau-Brazil and a port for unloading African slaves who mixed with indigenous people as well as with local fishers.
Originally a fishers' village, Búzios gradually become a redoubt of sophistication, entertainment and leisure to the Carioca and Paulista elites. A meeting point and a melting pot for 48 nationalities, colors, music, regions, languages, cuisines, fashion, and talents; where several famous people have already written, painted, sculptured, sang, and pictured its privileged nature.
At present, Búzios gathers the natural aspects of its 23 beaches and 5 islands. This city also cares strongly of the environment, which is usually subject to human whims. The topographic profile of the place, together with the magic of its sky, lead worldwide citizens to find their own paradise; nowadays the new highway joining Búzios with Rio enables us to enjoy the whole of this marvel during an almost two hours' trip.
The stars start to twingle from the sky opening the Buzian night as well as an array of possibilities: International Cinema Festival, Búzios Gourmet, Jazz Festival, etc.
The Rua das Pedras - main street downtown - is the central "point" of the beauty of this beach resort at night; live music, shows, and plenty of movement until down, gather beautiful people of all ages who communicate to each other in multiple languages.
